I have several mail folders that accumulate at about 2 GiB every month, 
with 200,000-250,000 emails in each.  Though adding more emails to the 
folders appears to be working properly(which used to be a problem with 
older versions of thunderbird), the "Size" column on the left hand 
folder listing disappears if you go over 2048MB.

that's a hugh amount of mails. Personally I don't let grow my Inbox in
such dimensions so I can't test your described behaviour.

Can you please give an actual state of your bug with current Icedove
versions? Hopefully this bug is gone.

Appears to be working fine in 17.0.5, i have one mailbox with 3193 MB in 
it that shows properly.  The 4gb limit still exists, but that's an 
upstream problem which apparently will not be fixed.
